KINDNESS CLUB

Kindness Club is a new club for 5th graders only.  It is a community service based group.  We were only going to accept 25 students, but we had such a huge turnout we didn't want to deny anyone the opportunity to be a part of this.  So we now have 45 members!  Our hope is for our students to realize the importance of kindness and the importance of helping others, even just the smallest acts of kindness can have a huge impact on others!  Each month we will be doing something for our community.  The kids are coming up with ideas as well.  The kids have been really excited about everything and have told us how much fun they are having, so we are super excited!!

NATURE NERDS

Our Nature Nerds is an after school club that meets all year long. We have between 25-30, 4th and 5th grade students who are active in the beautification of Fullerton School. They work on the planning of our gardens, both floral and vegetable, as well as building hardscape around our building grounds. Each year the group travels to Chicago to participate in the Chicago Flower Show to learn the newest ideas in gardening and to get ideas to improve our own gardens. The club has been very successful in getting our children to understand the importance of being involved within our community.

STUDENT COUNCIL

Student Council has been off to a great start!  We have had a couple of meetings and are coming up with great ideas!  We are doing Red Ribbon Week with some fun spirit days.  We will be selling Smencils again along with Smickers which are giant smelly stickers!  We have also decided to get Student Council shirts, which the kids are totally excited about.  We will be participating in some activities for Veterans' Day as well.  In March will be our giant fundraiser for blood cancers, Pennies For Patients.  We have some fun ideas for this year to raise as much as possible.  More events will happen as the meetings continue and the members come up with new ideas.  We are looking forward to a great year!!
